Vegan plate of pasta carbonara with smoked tofu/

Plant-Based Carbonara recipe


Hearty, delicious, and plant-based! This carbonara recipe is perfect for date nights, weeknights, or any night!


200 grams smoked or firm tofu

3 tbs oil

1 medium onion

3 tbs soy sauce

1 clove garlic 

¾ cup soy or coconut cream

1 tbs nutritional yeast

Pepper to taste


Parsley (optional)



  1. On a chopping board dice the tofu into one-centimetre cubes
  2. Bring a fry pan to medium heat and add the oil, chopped onion, diced tofu, soy sauce, and chopped garlic then sauté and stir for at least seven minutes until the onions are translucent and tender
  3. Add soy cream to the pan and stir through
  4. Add nutritional yeast (optional) and pepper and stir through
  5. Add al dente cooked fettuccine to the pan and stir through to coat the pasta evenly
  6. Garnish with Italian parsley (optional)
  7. Serve and enjoy!
