KFC uses chickens that grow unnaturally fast

News

KFC uses chickens who grow so fast; their legs, hearts and lungs can’t keep up. They suffer from broken bones, muscle weakness as well as organ failure. It’s just not cricket!

KFC is the title sponsor of the renowned Big Bash League. Every year, people wear their bucket hats and cheer on their favourite cricket team. Little do they know that while KFC is big on sponsoring cricket, they're not so big on chicken welfare.

KFC chickens grow to full size and are killed in just 5-6 short weeks.

The unnaturally fast growth leaves them riddled with health issues including broken bones and heart and lung failure.

KFC’s customers and the chickens in their supply chain deserve better.

KFC in the UK and six countries in Europe have already committed to giving chickens better lives.

They've signed the Better Chicken Commitment, which means chickens will have more room to move and express their natural behaviours. It also means slower growing breeds will be used. These breeds grow at a more natural rate and have far better health outcomes.

It's time for KFC Australia to follow their lead, because keeping chickens in poor conditions just isn't cricket!
