Thanks to your warm-hearted generosity, our dedicated expert on the ground, Phuong, has already begun important bile farm monitoring visits across Vietnam.
These visits mean bears are not forgotten. It means someone is looking out for them while we continue working towards ending the bear bile trade for good.
Here’s a special update from Rebecca Keeble, our Wildlife Campaign Strategist, just for you:
Your support is helping us watch over these last remaining bile bears, look for signs of illegal bile extraction, ensure they are properly registered, and negotiate their voluntary surrender to a local sanctuary.
Alongside our local partners, including FOUR PAWS and Education for Nature Vietnam, we’ve successfully negotiated the voluntary surrender of bears Chinh and Na, and helped transport them to their forever home at our partner’s sanctuary. Here are their stories:
Chinh’s story
Chinh the bear spent 20 years in a tiny cage, suffering for his bile.
Thanks to people like you who cared, Chinh’s heartbreaking story of a life in captivity was turned into a heartwarming one.
Today, he roams freely and enjoys warm sunlight in his semi-wild home at a FOUR PAWS sanctuary. He can finally feel soft grass under his paws and splash about in his pool.
Na’s story
Na the bear was forced to spend 20 years of her life in heartbreaking captive conditions on a bile farm in Vietnam.
Thankfully, she’s safe today and lives at a FOUR PAWS sanctuary where she has plenty of space to roam and forage, bathe in the sun, and play in a semi-wild environment along with other bears like her.
Chinh and Na's stories serve as powerful reminders of what could be possible for the remaining bears trapped on bile farms in Vietnam.
Together, we are moving closer to a future where no bear suffers in a cage for their bile. Thank you for your unwavering support.
