World Animal Protection does not support the cruel exploitation of animals for gaming and entertainment.
The Premier’s decision follows a Special Commission into the industry which found overwhelming evidence of systemic cruelty. High rates of injury, widespread live baiting and mass killings of healthy dogs, left the Premier with no other acceptable course of action than to close the industry down. World Animal Protection fully agrees.
The Premier’s decision is at risk. The NSW Labor Party has announced it will oppose it in Parliament and some National Party MPs might cross the floor to vote against it. You need to let the Premier know that he has your strong support to get this important ban through Parliament. No more greyhounds should be bred for racing. Tell the Premier that you look forward to the government providing significant resources to rehome the greyhounds currently in the industry which can now be retired.
