Susie Porter becomes an Ambassador for World Animal Protection

06 November 2014

We’re delighted to welcome award-winning actress, Susie Porter on board as a new Ambassador for World Animal Protection.

Susie’s a passionate animal lover who’s been committed to animal protection for many years. Her beloved dog Gracie is a rescue dog.

As a child, Susie used to bring strays and injured animals home for her family to look after. Her whole family had a wonderful compassion for animals.

“Growing up and becoming aware of animal cruelty, I knew that I had a responsibility to keep protecting animals. Animals can’t speak for themselves, so it’s important we do what we can to prevent cruelty.

“Through supporting World Animal Protection, I’ve learnt more and more and about these issues. It’s such a big problem but it’s an important one, and one I’ve always been affected by” says Susie.

Susie has been actively involved in bringing the cruelty of live export to the public attention and has spoken out on The Morning Show recently about stamping out the abuse of elephant rides.

“I have been an animal lover and activist for a long time and even I wasn’t aware of the cruelty and horrors that these elephants go through. There are many animal welfare issues that we know of – dog culling; bear baiting; whaling – but with elephant rides the cruelty is hidden. I had no idea that they suffered this way.”

We’re thrilled that Susie and many thousands of our other supporters are standing up for animals and helping create a world where animal cruelty has ended.

Visit Stamp Out The Abuse to learn why we all want to see an end to the cruelty of elephant rides.
